February 21, 2020 was a cold and beautiful day for a winter wedding. It began with Chris and Kaila getting ready in their own suites at the modern wedding barn in Columbia City known as Union 12. This gorgeous blank slate of a venue leaves so much room for creativity, and it was dressed up to the nines.
The timeless navy, burgundy, and gold color scheme was a perfect contrast to their late winter wedding. Kaila and her bridal party spent the day in a large and beautifully decorated bridal suite across from the Ceremony and Reception site laughing while getting ready. DC Haircrafters and Makeup Artist Destiny Jolea Behny brought their A-game to make sure that Kaila was absolutely stunning for her walk down the aisle. Meanwhile, upstairs Chris and the guys enjoyed some shuffleboard in their nice little man-cave away from it all.
The ceremony began at 6:30 with Kaila’s sister, Kimberly holding up an iPad for their Mom to be able to view the nights events. As Kaila walked down the aisle Chris had tears in his eyes, you know, the ones ever girl dreams of on her wedding day. They then exchanged heartfelt and emotional vows that caused nearly everyone in the building to tear up. Kaila made sure to throw in a Friends reference and let Chris know that, despite his lack of obsession with the show, he was indeed “her lobster”. Then came the moment I’m positive Chris had been waiting for all day, “you may now kiss the bride”. The couple cheered as they walked back down the aisle as man and wife.
The reception was nothing short of the ceremony as guests started the night off with one of two affectionately named signature cocktails; “He’s Her Lobster” and “How You Doin’” (my personal fave). After dinner the Mr. and Mrs. hit the dance floor with their first dance and then headed to an amazingly gorgeous cake by Sara Sulkey. Little did Chris know, there was a surprise for him in the back of the cake. Kaila had a Green Bay Packers logo hidden out of site as this was not only the place of their engagement, but something dear to Chris’ heart.
After the scheduled events, guests began to hit the dance floor and PhotoBooth to party the night away. Neon glow sticks, fun photo props, and signature cocktails adorned the entire building. As the night began to wind down, loved ones of the couple surrounded them outdoors and sent them off by throwing glow sticks into the air in a special send off. Chris and Kaila walked hand in hand to their limitless future.
I wish you both all of the love and happiness in the world, you’re truly beautiful inside and out! Thank you for allowing me to be a part of such a special day in your lives. A huge thank you to the other outstanding vendors that made everything as stunning as it was!
